ABSTRACT

E-Race will create a framework in which requirements for production lines /assembly lines can be specified by a customer. These requirements will then be used by a system integrator employing, to a greater or lesser degree, the automated assembly design and modelling features of E-Race. Modular assembly equipment suppliers will be able to quote and provide the required elements for each assembly cell, enabling the system integrators to produce a full design and quote to the end user. This enviroment will increase the competitiveness of manufacturers of modules, system integrators and module users. The project will improve the accuracy of assembly system specification hence reducing time to market. It will also compress all relevant communication times and implement a degree of standardisation, improving the accuracy of communications. The project will also enable the reconfiguration of the assembly systems to be easier, faster and cheaper, further enhancing the overall benefits.
