AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Business Objectives

Improve the accuracy of customer requirement specification.
Target is a 15% increase. Inaccuracies and miscommunications are to be substantially reduced. Specific targets are the reduction of equipment over-specification and waste equipment.

Increase reaction speed to inconsistencies and ambiguities in requirements.
Target is a 12% improvement. Improve the detection of and reaction to ambiguities and inconsistencies. There is to be a specific action for clarification of requirements.

Reduction in production lead-time.
Target is a 25% reduction. Specifically relating to the reduction in the number of required iterations, especially with regards to Design for Assembly.

Reduction in the overall cost of product development.
Target is an 8% reduction. This is to be achieved by overall reduction in time and effort required to complete the design.

Cost efficient product customisation.
This will be achieved through the modular cell design employed. Also through the reduced specification time, as some/many elements will remain constant and the reduced design effort.

Improved customer satisfaction.
This is to be accomplished through increased assembly cell flexibility and configurability as well as reduced time-to-market and reduced overall cost.

Faster design process and reduced time-to-market.
Target is a 20% reduction. Achieved through the overall compression of the specification and design phases.
