Eureka! The answer is clear
Over recent years TQC have performed a number of unique special
engineering projects for automation in the pharmaceutical
and medical sectors. It is clear that many product manufacturers
have significant difficulty in defining the scope for these
sophisticated assembly and test projects.
TQC as Project Manager, with its UK Partners GSK, Bespak,
University of Nottingham, BARA, System Devices and B4 are
collaborating in a Eureka project to help the industry with
this process.
The E-RACE project intends to use the web to provide an automated
system whereby the information needed to define and cost such
projects is captured, collated and processed to produce an
outline assembly system design. The use of the interactive
internet technology will enable the user to evaluate the impact
of different assembly methods, product variants and production
volumes on the typical cost of the final system.
The final system configuration will be represented by a
virtual model of the production line hopefully with the ability
to view the assembly coming together with real-time motion.
The system model will be built from a series of technology
modules e.g. transport conveyors, assembly modules, robots
etc. from a database of proven technology sub-assemblies and
component parts.
The project is in its early stages but is already showing
that a useful facility for pharmaceutical and medical device
manufacturers will be possible. The final results of the project
with a usable website are expected to be completed by 2006.
